»The Most Uncompromising Truthfulness«
Teodor Currentzis, not only mastermind of his own orchestra, MusicAeterna, but now also Principal Conductor of SWR South West German Radio Symphony Orchestra, will again have his own subscription series in the coming season: This year he begins the cycle with Mahler’s Third — and ostensibly longest — Symphony. Arnold Schoenberg described it as a work of »the most uncompromising truthfulness«, and one which offered a glimpse into Mahler’s soul. The heterogeneous brittleness of the six-movement work has challenged generations of conductors – so we can be all the more excited to hear the interpretation of the creative genius from Perm.
