»The Big Picture«

David Krakauer studied both classical and jazz clarinet and after discovering Klezmer in the 1980s, played in »The Klezmatics« and then in his own band »Klezmer Madness!« He manages to combine the centuries-old eastern European Jewish music with jazz, funk, hip-hop and classical music to such an extent that, as the Wall Street Journal wrote, you know longer notice the difference between the genres. Now a veritable Klezmer icon, there is no stopping the innovative, Grammy-nominated clarinettist. In his new programme, his search for his musical roots takes him to music and film. In a unique multi-media show, David Krakauer and his sextet interpret themes from 14 classic Jewish films, including »Cabaret«, »Fiddler on the Roof« and »La vita è bella«. At the same time, pictures of cinema posters, rare photos taken while the films were being made, and stylised graphics will be projected onto a big screen.
