SWR Symphonieorchester / Currentzis «Mahler: Symphony No. 3»
This year Teodor Currentzis begins the cycle with Mahler’s Third — and ostensibly longest — Symphony. Arnold Schoenberg described it as a work of «the most uncompromising truthfulness», and one which offered a glimpse into Mahler’s soul. The heterogeneous brittleness of the six-movement work has challenged generations of conductors – so we can be all the more excited to hear the interpretation of the creative genius from Perm.
