Excellent piano music often comes from excellent pianists: Chopin, Rachmaninoff and Beethoven, for example, were masters of their craft – both on music paper and at the keyboard. The cycle »Piano in the Great Hall« is therefore unusually »pianistic«, when greats such as Arcadi Volodos, Grigory Sokolov or Daniil Trifonov devote themselves to the music of their guild with relish. Rudolf Buchbinder, for example, makes the piano sing as only Chopin could write it down in his Piècen.Beethoven's compositions are in the trusted hands of Leif Ove Andsnes and Hélène Grimaud. Daniil Trifonov pays homage to the pathos of his compatriot Rachmaninoff in a duo with his chamber music partner and former teacher Sergei Babayan. Scriabin's future music of the Russian turn of the century is presented by Arcadi Volodos.
The piano recital with Alexandre Kantorow on April 13, 2023 replaces the piano recital with Denis Matsuev originally scheduled for February 16, 2023.
