Introductions & Talks

Well communicated background knowledge about works, composers, history or interpretation offers new perspectives on the music. Special programmes are available before or after the concerts.

When the architectural firm Fellner & Helmer completed the Vienna Konzerthaus in 1913 as one of its final projects, the inclusion of the programmatic »Meistersinger« quote »Honour your German masters« on the façade was, so to speak, standard practice. This brochure demonstrates on almost every page just how far the actual programme of events in this building has since gone beyond this guideline; on this double-page spread, however, to paraphrase Goethe, the indescribable has finally been achieved and the façade motto has become reality: Over five weekends, you will have the opportunity to immerse yourselves not only sensually but also intellectually in the music of Haydn, Beethoven, Wagner, Bruckner and Strauss. The fact that Mozart and Brahms are also included on the sensory level rounds the whole experience off harmoniously. 

Before each concert by PHACE, the ensemble for new music, Juri Giannini talks to the composers and performers of the evening in the New Salon.

After every concert in the series, we welcome all visitors to the Buffet Berio-Saal to enjoy a light snack* with the composers and performers, raise a glass to what we’ve just heard, chat, ask questions and strengthen the sense of community at Klangforum Wien. Come and join our community!
