Debut of Reinoud Van Mechelen's baroque orchestra
Reinoud Van Mechelen has performed as a tenor with conductors such as
William Christie, Philippe Herreweghe and Christophe Rousset. In 2016,
he finally founded his own ensemble: a nocte temporis. His aim is to
present baroque music in a historical style and at the same time to move
the audience directly and emotionally. a nocte temporis is now making
its debut at the Wiener Konzerthaus in the »Bach Cantatas« cycle with
soprano Lore Binon, countertenor Alex Potter and bass Tomáš Král.
Reinoud Van Mechelen himself takes on the role of tenor.
Bach cantatas from three of his Leipzig cycles
Solo
and choral cantatas from his three Leipzig cantata cycles are on the
programme. After a confession of sins (»Ach, lieben Christen, seid
getrost« BWV 114) and praise for the goodness of God (»Erhöhtes Fleisch
und Blut« BWV 173), the Christmas cantatas »Süßer Trost, mein Jesus
kömmt« BWV 151 and »Liebster Immanuel, Herzog der Frommen« BWV 123 tell
of the joy of Jesus' birth and love for the Lord - with enchanting
choruses and touching arias.
