Acclaimed shooting star
Alexander Malofeev caused a real sensation when he stood in for Khatia Buniatishvili and Yevgeny Kissin in Rachmaninoff's 3rd Piano Concerto. The critics labelled him a »world piano revolution«, »the audience went wild with enthusiasm«. Born in Moscow in 2001, the pianist won the Tchaikovsky Competition in the young talent category in 2014 and has lived in Berlin since 2022. He is now making his debut at the Wiener Konzerthaus with a piano recital in which he can demonstrate both his virtuosity and his expressiveness.
Composers from Russia and Northern Europe
The programme includes works by Russian, partly exiled composers such as Sergei Prokofiev, Alexander Scriabin, Igor Stravinsky and Arthur Lourié as well as Nordic composers such as Jean Sibelius, Edvard Grieg and Einojuhani Rautavaara The expressive spectrum ranges from delicate, impressionistic sounds to unbridled fire.
