Between intimacy and virtuosity
Augustin Hadelich and Seong-Jin Cho have been performing together since 2024 – two outstanding musicians who combine their international careers as soloists with a deep passion for chamber music.
Johannes Brahms and Leoš Janáček
Their concert opens with Johannes Brahms’ First Violin Sonata, which weaves an intimate, lyrical dialogue between the violin and the piano. This is followed by Leoš Janáček’s Violin Sonata, a work of a completely different expressiveness: erratic, full of tension and emotionally immediate.
Amy Beach and Sergei Prokofiev
In the second half of the concert, the spectrum ranges from Amy Beach’s elegant »Romance« to Sergei Prokofiev’s virtuosic Second Violin Sonata. Originally composed as a flute sonata, it was arranged for the violin at the suggestion of the violinist David Oistrakh and combines technical brilliance with wit and rhythmic verve: a programme full of contrasts, in which Hadelich and Cho explore the full diversity of musical dialogue.
