Specially cast

Most recently, in May 2026, Denis Kozhukhin wowed audiences at the Vienna Konzerthaus alongside Vilde Frang and Maximilian Hornung with a programme devoted entirely to Schumann’s piano trios. Now the Russian pianist is appearing in a completely different trio line-up: together with the Andalusian clarinettist Pablo Barragán and the French violist Adrien La Marca, he presents a chamber music programme brimming with discoveries, ranging from classical to contemporary repertoire.

From Mozart to Piazzolla
In 1786, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart created the first major composition for clarinet, viola and piano with the harmonically balanced Kegelstatt Trio. Sixty-seven years later, Robert Schumann took up this unusual instrumentation in his »Märchenerzählungen« Op. 132. Max Bruch, in turn, drew inspiration from these when composing his Eight Pieces, Op. 83, in 1908, which he wrote for his son Max Felix, an outstanding clarinettist. This extraordinary evening is complemented by Carlos Guastavino’s Sonata for Clarinet and Piano, as well as chamber music arrangements of Xavier Montsalvatge’s »Cinco canciones negras« and Astor Piazzolla’s »Cuatro estaciones porteñas«, the »Four Seasons of Buenos Aires«.
