Kayıkçı’s Soundscapes

She last performed at the Vienna Konzerthaus two years ago – and now Büşra Kayıkçı is returning to Vienna. Spaces and (soundscapes) play a major role in the minimalist, melancholic piano pieces by the Istanbul-born composer: »I am convinced that when we listen to a piece of music, we travel from one space to another and from one time to another. When a melody moves us deeply, it creates a space for the mind and soul. It is not only architects or engineers who can erect a building. Through their musical means, composers create an atmosphere that can transport the listener to cities, gardens and landscapes.« Büşra Kayıkçı draws inspiration from composers such as John Cage and Nils Frahm, whilst also constantly exploring new creative territories. Her interdisciplinary approach is also evident in the visual works surrounding her music, such as artwork and videos, which Büşra Kayıkçı creates both independently and in collaboration with colleagues from the design sector.]
