Sound clouds
Under Maxim Emelyanychev's baton, one of Europe's most versatile chamber orchestras creates leaps between the forces of nature and lyrical tranquillity. Mendelssohn's »Hebrides« roars in the Scottish sea with rugged soundscapes, which the Camerata Salzburg lets flash musically. Elisabeth Leonskaja then enters Beethoven's Concerto in C minor with her characteristic legato: dense, dramatic, full of heartfelt emotion. The Viennese-by-choice, who was influenced by the Russian school, brings the deep emotions to life with timeless freshness and intensity. In reconciliation, the »Pastorale« finally plunges into Beethoven's personal resonance chamber, whose finely honed details in bird calls, streams and thunderstorms are carried by a utopian calm and are so moving in their very simplicity.
