The cello virtuosos Kian Soltani and Paolo Bonomini

Their names alone sound extremely harmonious and promising: Kian Soltani and Paolo Bonomini. Soltani, who has held a professorship at the mdw – University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna since 2023, has been well known to Konzerthaus audiences for ten years through performances in chamber music concerts and with various orchestras such as the Wiener Symphoniker. Together with Bonomini, the solo cellist of the Camerata Salzburg, he can now be heard performing one of Luigi Boccherini's cello sonatas.

Luigi Boccherini as a composer of cello works
He also shines in Boccherini's Cello Concerto in D major, which will be performed for the first time at the Wiener Konzerthaus. In 1783, the travelling music writer Charles Burney counted Boccherini among the greatest masters ever to compose for violin and cello in his history of music and praised his bold and elegant style. It is only in recent decades that his work, apart from the string quintets, has once again attracted greater interest. The programme also includes two early symphonies by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, core repertoire of the Camerata Salzburg.
