»Eu Vou Morrer de Amor ou Resistir«
The pleasure of melancholy
The salty scent of the sea and the sweet smell of pastel de Belém linger in the steep alleyways of the old town: »Bem-vindo a Lisboa!« Fado is characteristic here. Its roots go back to the 19th century; characterised by »saudade«, it tells of longing and life's trials. It has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2011. One of its best-known voices is Carminho, born in 1984. Growing up in the fado neighbourhood of Alfama, she learned the music in her mother Teresa Siqueira's pubs. Since her debut album »Fado« 2009«, she has enjoyed international success. Her current album »Eu Vou Morrer de Amor ou Resistir« combines tradition with jazz and new sounds – as a natural evolution of fado.
