Das Große Chinesische Neujahrskonzert 2027

On 6 February 2027, the Year of the Fire Goat – begins – a year marked by creativity, harmony and inner strength. The Grand Chinese New Year Concert heralds this special new beginning with a musical celebration full of colour, energy and millennia-old tradition.

The Grand Chinese New Year Concert is far more than just a classical concert evening. It is a captivating musical journey through the diverse soundscapes of China. Since 1998, the concert series has toured 28 countries and more than 30 capital cities, and has become a firm highlight of the international concert calendar. Year after year, it delights a growing audience.

During the Chinese Spring Festival in January and February, leading traditional Chinese orchestras bring an energetic programme to Europe’s most prestigious concert halls, showcasing the full diversity of Chinese instruments – from delicate string sounds to powerful rhythmic climaxes. Traditional masterpieces are juxtaposed with new compositions and contemporary arrangements for Chinese orchestra. The focus is on virtuoso solos on the erhu, whose warm tone is reminiscent of a human voice, the rhythmically brilliant pipa, the yangqin, the ruan and many other authentic instruments. Delicate sounds and powerful rhythms combine to create a varied and lively concert experience.

Guided charmingly through the evening, the audience discovers the unique instruments as well as the stories and cultural backgrounds behind the music. The result is an immediate and accessible concert experience – both for those discovering Chinese music for the first time and for those for whom the concert has long since become a cherished tradition. An evening full of colour, rhythm, emotion and impressive stage presence – rooted in a musical culture dating back over 3,000 years, yet vibrant in the here and now.
