Gerhard Aflenzer Broadway Big Band / Kopmajer / Breinschmid

The »Swing Gala« featuring the Viennese vibraphonist Martin Breinschmid and the trumpeter Gerhard Aflenzer with his Broadway Big Band is a long-standing tradition at the Vienna Konzerthaus. Enjoy pieces from the repertoires of the bands led by Lionel Hampton, Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, Count Basie, Harry James and others. The audience is invited on a journey through the golden age of the big band era.
Martin Breinschmid is an internationally renowned and highly regarded vibraphonist, drummer and percussionist. He has performed with musicians such as Buddy De Franco, Terry Gibbs, Peanuts Hucko, Scott Hamilton and Ken Peplovsky, and has been a member of the Vienna United Stages Orchestra since 1988.

Following on from 2025, Gerhard Aflenzer has once again succeeded in securing the Austrian jazz singer Simone Kopmajer for a performance at the Swing Gala.

With her expressive voice and charismatic style, the winner of the 2003 Hans Koller Prize in the »New York Scholarship« ranks among the country’s most impressive singers. From a young age, Simone – who was born in Schladming and grew up in Bad Aussee – achieved exactly what all musicians and bands dream of: a successful international career. Kopmayer’s world revolves around the (re)interpretation of the American Songbook. She studied at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz under Mark Murphy and quickly made a name for herself as a jazz singer. Throughout her artistic career, she has collaborated with greats such as George Mraz, Victor Lewis, Fritz Pauer and Houston Person.
This brilliant musical line-up makes the Swing Gala once again a must-see event for all fans of this genre.
