On 26 September 2027 at 7.30 pm, HEROES and LEGENDS – Epic Video Game Music Live will bring the music of famous video game worlds to the Great Hall of the Vienna Konzerthaus.
The HEROES and LEGENDS concert focuses on the grand symphonic soundtracks of modern video games – music that has long since outgrown its original function within the game. A large symphony orchestra, choir and soloists will bring to life the soundscapes that have accompanied millions of players and shaped the atmosphere of entire gaming universes.
The programme features tracks from games such as »The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim«, »Assassin’s Creed II«, »Fallout 4«, »World of Warcraft«, »Diablo III«, »Civilisation VI«, »Battlefield 1942«, »Helldivers II« and many other internationally renowned games.
HEROES and LEGENDS deliberately focuses on the music itself. Detached from the screen, the compositions take on a new dimension in the concert hall – ranging from monumental orchestral passages to sombre, atmospheric soundscapes and quiet, emotional moments. A lighting design tailored to the music enhances the concert experience and visually brings the different soundscapes to life, without allowing the music to fade into the background.
The programme brings together works by internationally renowned composers, including multiple Oscar, Grammy and Golden Globe winner Hans Zimmer, Grammy winner Christopher Tin, BAFTA winners Wilbert Roget II, Jesper Kyd and Jeremy Soule, Emmy Award winner Russell Brower, and Inon Zu. Their music epitomises a generation of composers who have developed video game music into a distinct form of orchestral storytelling.
Under the baton of Georgi Nikolov, the concert promises an evening blending symphonic music, modern storytelling and popular culture. HEROES and LEGENDS is therefore aimed not only at gamers, but also at an audience that appreciates grand orchestral music, powerful themes and musical storytelling.
