Hypnotic sounds

The French-Lebanese trumpeter Ibrahim Maalouf is currently one of the most popular instrumentalists on the French music scene. He is characterised by his oriental-influenced, emotionally profound jazz mixture and the skilful fusion of different musical genres. Originally pursuing a career as a classical trumpet player, he became a pop, jazz and world great at the turn of the millennium through collaborations with artists such as Sting, Salif Keita, Amadou & Mariam, Tryo, Matthieu Chedid and Lhasa de Sela.

Trumpet of Michel-Ange
With the project »Trumpet of Michel-Ange«, Ibrahim Maalouf has opened a new chapter in his musical oeuvre. Building on the rhythmic foundation and the immovable and irreplaceable stability of the pulse, it is an odyssey through East African »Taarab«-music, which is strongly characterised by Arabic and Indian influences. Ibrahim Maalouf blurs the boundaries between ancient Arabic traditions and avant-garde trance music.
