»Men and women just don’t get on…« – and yet they have to get on with one another every day. When, first thing in the morning, the breakfast egg has been boiled for too long and, in the evening, opinions differ on how to spend the rest of the evening, things start to get tricky. This is precisely what Loriot captured so aptly in his legendary »Scenes from a Marriage«, published in 1983. His keen sense of human interaction and the humour of everyday communication reveal Loriot to be a perceptive connoisseur of all-too-human comedies.

As a tribute to this grand master of humour, two giants of the stage and screen – Senta Berger and Friedrich von Thun – have come together to breathe life and laughter into these scenes. Together and against one another, they grapple with the stumbling blocks that everyday life throws in their path, and, of course, with the insurmountable pitfalls of a relationship. For as Loriot himself once said: »A happy marriage is one in which she is a little blind and he is a little deaf.«
