Meta4oric
The Finnish string quartet Meta4 presents a chamber music programme that ranges from Romanticism to a world premiere: in the String Quartet in E flat major op. 44/3 from 1837, Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy once again shows how something new can emerge from tradition, quoting Mozart and providing stylistic echoes of Beethoven. The Piano Quintet in A major op. 81 by Antonín Dvořák, on the other hand, is inspired by folklore, for which the pianist Olli Mustonen, also from Finland, joins the quartet. Finally, there will be the world premiere of a new string quartet by Thomas Larcher, which was commissioned by the Merito String Instruments Trust. In the past, the composer, born in 1963, has repeatedly demonstrated his ability to write string quartets with an original sound.
