The great emotions of the French symphony
Klaus Mäkelä, barely thirty and already at the helm of top international orchestras for years: his rapid rise is a source of amazement – and his concerts are a source of excitement. Since taking over as chief conductor in 2021, he has audibly shaped the Orchestre de Paris with precise contours and a fresh presence in the French repertoire. This programme shows just how broad the spectrum is: Georges Bizet's youthful stroke of genius from 1855, the First Symphony, meets the sweeping late Romanticism of César Franck's D minor Symphony. A dialogue of great emotions, which Klaus Mäkelä brings together with great sensitivity.
