An »Egyptian« piano concerto
Lucas Debargue played his way to the top of the world piano scene within a very short space of time. He became known above all for his unconventional and powerful interpretations. With the Vienna RSO, he can be heard as a soloist in the Fifth Piano Concerto by his compatriot Camille Saint-Saëns under the baton of Elena Schwarz.
Saint-Saëns, Staud, Stravinsky and Debussy
Saint-Saëns composed the Piano Concerto No. 5 op. 103 in 1896, the year of his inspiring trip to Cairo and Luxor. It is also known as »the Egyptian« because of its oriental-sounding second movement. Johannes Maria Staud's »Tondo«, a preludio for orchestra grouped around the central sound of the four horns, as well as ballet music by Igor Stravinsky and Claude Debussy will also be heard.
