Immediate sensory perception of the sounds: the musicians of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra are seated in the spacious parterre of the Great Hall. The audience can sit directly between them – people with and without disabilities, including wheelchair users of course. The proximity to the musicians and a moderation tailored to the respective needs enable a multi-sensory experience.
The fairy tale of the poor girl
The programme features fairytale music: the sought-after conductor Elim Chan has put together excerpts from »Cinderella« by Sergei Prokofiev. Cinderella is treated like a maid by her stepsisters, but thanks to the help of a fairy godmother, she attends a ball where she impresses the prince as the most beautiful. Thanks to her lost shoe, he later tracks her down. Prokofiev colourfully realises the dream of the girl who rises from servant girl to princess. The individual characters in the fairy tale are characterised by vivid leitmotifs, both romantic and grotesque.
