Return of Vadym Kholodenko with highly virtuoso music

The outstanding pianist Vadym Kholodenko returns to perform one of the most technically demanding works for piano with the Vienna Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Omer Meir Wellber: Sergei Prokofiev's 2nd Piano Concerto. First performed by the composer in St. Petersburg in 1913, the composition combines romantic elements with expressionistic ones and sparkles with spectacular sound power.

Cheerful Beethoven
This is followed by Beethoven's 2nd Symphony, which, in contrast to his later works, is still quite cheerful and light-hearted. It has repeatedly been wrongly associated with his »Heiligenstadt Testament«, in which Beethoven bids farewell to life in utter despair. However, more recent research into the sketches has shown that they had already been completed by April 1802 at the latest.
