Beethoven's Ninth on New Year's Eve in Vienna

For decades, the performance of Beethoven's 9th Symphony at the turn of the year has been an integral part of Vienna's New Year's Eve tradition. At the end of 2025, music lovers can once again look forward to a special event characterised by classical music and a festive atmosphere.

Vienna Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Dima Slobodeniouk
The Vienna Symphony Orchestra will present the work under the direction of Dima Slobodeniouk together with the Wiener Singakademie and a top-class quartet of soloists – Christiane Karg (soprano), Beth Taylor (alto), portrait artist Julian Prégardien (tenor) and great talent Alexander Grassauer (bass-baritone).

»Ode to Joy«: Message of hope and humanity
The monumental symphony is played, the final movement of which is one of the most powerful messages in music history with Schiller's »Ode to Joy«. Beethoven's Ninth combines the celebratory character of the New Year with a message of hope and humanity that touches us anew every time.
