Aventures

No less a figure than Igor Stravinsky described Schoenberg's »Pierrot lunaire« as the »solar plexus of early 20th century music« and Boulez's »Marteau sans maître«, written decades later, as »a marvellously supple kind of music«. It is around these two iconic modernist works that the programme of the second edition of the cycle »Aventures« is grouped: Het Collectief and the Quatuor Diotima, who need no further introduction here, are dedicated entirely to the music of the Viennese School. The Remix Ensemble from Porto and mezzo-soprano Christina Bock precede the »Marteau« with solo pieces by Boulez's classmate Luciano Berio and – as a Portuguese flavour – by Emmanuel Nunes. Before that, the vocal ensemble Cantando Admont pays tribute to Morton Feldman, who would have celebrated his 100th birthday this year, and also takes a brief excursion into the 14th century.
