Description
A major musical event is taking shape: a complete cyclical performance of all of Ludwig van Beethoven's string quartets will unfold to mark the anniversary year 2027. This may not seem like a particularly unusual endeavour in itself, but in this case it actually is: the Belcea Quartet and Quatuor Ébène are the world's leading string quartets sharing this extraordinary journey through Beethoven's chamber music universe – two ensembles whose own Beethoven cycles have already thrilled audiences not only in the Vienna Konzerthaus, but all over the world in the past. Over six evenings from October 2026 to May 2027, they will take audiences step by step through the composer's life's work: from the wide-awake early quartets to the fiery middle works and the transcendent late works.
