Description
Rudolf Buchbinder plays Beethoven's piano sonatas
Rudolf Buchbinder pays homage to Ludwig van Beethoven, who died in Vienna in March 1827: immerse yourself with him in an unrivalled oeuvre of piano music – almost exactly 200 years after the Bonn master's death on seven dates over a period of around three weeks.
Inexhaustible creative wealth
Beethoven's 32 piano sonatas – are a life story of inexhaustible creative wealth. The 32 compositions with an opus number are undisputedly among the milestones of piano music: from early works that still reflect the handwriting of Beethoven's teacher Haydn, through those of the dramatic »middle« period with the popular »Waldstein«-sonata to the visionary late works.
A companion for piano lovers
Beethoven's cycle of piano sonatas has become a faithful companion through musical life for generations of pianists and piano lovers alike. One of the most profound guides through the oeuvre is Rudolf Buchbinder: the Viennese pianist, an honorary member of the Wiener Konzerthausgesellschaft since 1996, has performed the work in cycles over sixty times in his career. With esprit and spontaneity, based on intensive study of the work's text and the composer's life story, Buchbinder set new standards in the history of interpretation – and in turn became a loyal companion to Viennese audiences and worldwide through the Beethoven cosmos!
