Adorno, forms the fitting conclusion to a series that is by no means just »makes music as if joy were already in the world«: even the fairytale-like opening concert with »Artistic Partner« Elim Chan is about stories whose sad aspects are hardly completely overcome by the respective happy endings. Patrick Hahn combines Rachmaninoff's nostalgic 3rd Symphony with Alexander Mossolov's brutal Maschinenstück and a touching setting of the 130th Psalm, »Aus der Tiefe rufe ich, Herr, zu dir«, which Lili Boulanger composed shortly before her all too early death. In between is Bach's Christmas Oratorio with baroque specialist Alessandro De Marchi.
