Description
The Allgemeine Musikalische Zeitung described Beethoven's Opus 1/1 as showing the master's »cheerful youth still undimmed«. The Jess-Trio-Wien, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary on stage with this cycle, begins a complete performance of Beethoven's style-defining œuvre for piano trio with verve and enthusiasm. The original compositions for piano trio are complemented by delightful arrangements of selected Beethoven symphonies. Popular works from the 19th century round off the program: the Jess-Trio-Wien can also be a little melancholy with Schubert's Piano Trio in E flat major D 929 and Dvořák's »Dumky Trio«.
