Description
How does fair governance work? What responsibility do individuals have in society and how much freedom are they entitled to? What does it mean to take into account the interests of the many? How seducible is a collective? Authors from Sophocles to Saunders have posed these questions about the nature of democracy, and we present their works to you. In imaginative stories and with satirical humour, they create imaginary worlds of defiant resistance or total surveillance, expose dubious popular sovereignty and manipulative techniques of power. They make us think about the value of freedom, equality and humanity and, with their relentless relevance across the millennia, move us to the realisation that it all depends on us!
