Description
In a mosaic, the details come together to form a complete work of art: the Quatuor Mosaïques skilfully alternates between attention to detail and the big picture. The ensemble presents its knowledge of the repertoire on original instruments. Joseph Haydn's Passion cycle »The Seven Last Words of Our Saviour on the Cross« was considered overwhelming by contemporaries. His work is still regarded as a benchmark today, and the ensemble follows in his footsteps: Mozart's »Urvater« String Quartet in A major K 464, dedicated to Haydn, is on the programme, as are Beethoven's early works. The Quatuor Mosaïques shows a poetic side with Schumann's Quartet op. 41/3, and an almost symphonic one with Schubert's late »Rosamunde«-Quartett.
