Originality and grace
Feather-light virtuosity in the great Romantic violin concertos, slender Bach playing and a strong personality with down-to-earth appeal - violinist Lisa Batiashvili is one of the most sought-after violinists in the world. She received lessons in her student days - just like her fellow artist Patricia Kopatchinskaja - from the famous pedagogue Ana Chumachenco. Her breakthrough came with 2nd place at the 1995 Sibelius Competition.
Batiashvili is known for balancing intellect and emotion: This has earned her several ECHO Klassik awards and an Opus Klassik, among others. In the first concert of this year's portrait series, she will interpret the classic of violin literature, Beethoven's only violin concerto, which was received with exceptional applause at its premiere in 1806 because of its »originality and manifold beautiful passages«.
