Everything Schumann – Volume 2
»For me, Schumann is the greatest artist of all«, says Christian Gerhaher. The celebrated baritone and his congenial artistic partner, pianist Gerold Huber, have released a recording of all of Schumann's songs in 2021. After »Schumann I« in December 2024, you can now experience another evening dedicated entirely to Schumann with the two stars at the Wiener Konzerthaus. The programme includes songs from Schumann's »Liederjahr« 1840, including the Five Songs op. 40 and the Liederkreis after poems by Joseph von Eichendorff op. 39, as well as late treasures such as the Six Poems by N. Lenau and Requiem op. 90. According to Christian Gerhaher, the songs from 1840 are the more popular, but the later ones are »particularly interesting, particularly profound«. A must – not only for Schumann fans!
