Rock fragmentation, sound modulations & techno impulses
Enno Poppe: Fleisch
In »Fleisch«, Enno Poppe dissects the idiom of rock music very systematically and purposefully. The resulting phrases and snippets, which are only vaguely reminiscent of often-heard standing sentences and stereotypes, form an entertaining soundscape that bundles and exposes the expressive powers of rock in a new way.
Yuheng Chen: To a Bubbling Fountain Stirr'd with Wind
Yuheng Chen uses his music to explore the possibilities of tonal-instrumental modulations and push their limits. His works often contain pictorial moments that almost create concrete situations when listening to them. His new work for PHACE »To a Bubbling Fountain Stirr'd with Wind« will be premiered as part of the concert.
Zara Ali: thermo_doxa
In »thermo_doxa«, Zara Ali opens up a thoroughly fascinating sound space: driving, gruelling, energetic and yet balanced and nuanced. She shows little fear or hesitation in utilising musical expression techniques from EDM to techno to create a brute-sensitive sonic hybrid that combines the strengths of instruments and electronics.
Arturo Fuentes: SKULPT
Arturo Fuentes, with whom PHACE has enjoyed an exciting collaboration for many years, is also contributing a new work. His music stands at the intersection of genres and aesthetic forms and is often expanded to include a mixture of digital, visual, acoustic or material media. Which automatons will set the tone in »SKULPT« remains unclear for the time being.
