The fate of women at the Tudor Court

Inspired by the German term »Frauenzimmer«, which once referred to the women's quarters in a palace and later described both female power and social constraints, The Fine Hand provides an intimate glimpse into the multi-faceted sound world of the Tudor court. The programme includes a concert that reinterprets the lives of Henry VIII's six wives; not as mere footnotes to the turbulent reign of a king, but as independent, vibrant voices. From the educated serenity of Catherine of Aragon to the tragic silence of Catherine Howard, six very personally narrated women's fates invite the audience to listen not only to the murmur of history, but also to the sound of individual stories.
