Description
A cycle that elegantly combines the best notes like a cuvée! Things get off to a good start: Pink Martini, the »small orchestra« from Oregon with its penchant for high spirits and Hollywood glamour, makes its debut at the Wiener Konzerthaus – »Sympathique« is not only its first hit, but also the ensemble itself. The programme by jazz great Branford Marsalis is cosmopolitan: He and the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra bring Gershwin's »An American in Paris« with them. Yekwon Sunwoo, winner of the Van Cliburn Competition, unfolds romantic soundscapes in Rachmaninoff's 2nd Piano Concerto, while original sound specialist Ton Koopman focuses on two classical masterpieces with Haydn's »Salomon«-Symphony and Mozart's Requiem. Gautier Capuçon and Fazıl Say round off the magnificent bouquet with impressionist and late romantic works in their duo evening. Sample exquisite wines before each of these special concerts.
