Description
The »Jazz« cycle gets off to a great start when the singer and bassist esperanza spalding performs symphonic music by the legendary saxophonist Wayne Shorter with her band and the Tonkünstler Orchestra of Lower Austria under the direction of Clark Rundell. And things will be just as grand when Branford Marsalis and Dianne Reeves revive John Coltrane's music in an exclusive collaboration to mark the 100th anniversary of his birth. The German Jazzrausch Bigband, who will give us a very special Christmas evening, and guitar virtuoso Julian Lage, whose talent inspired Carlos Santana at a young age, will make their cycle debuts. The programme concludes with two highlights of vocal artistry: Kandace Springs and Ledisi are two outstanding jazz singers, inspired by the Great American Songbook as well as R&B.
