Description

The Core Subscription, comprising four concerts
First-class music in Vienna this weekend: the »Konzert.Kunst« comprises a core subscription featuring four top-class orchestral concerts. Franz Welser-Möst presents Richard Strauss’s lavishly scored »Sinfonia domestica«. The RSO Vienna, conducted by Bar Avni, performs works by Charlotte Sohy, Maurice Ravel and Frédéric Chopin – with Rafał Blechacz taking the solo part in Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 2. Star violinist María Dueñas performs Samuel Barber’s Violin Concerto with the Vienna Symphony Orchestra under Petr Popelka. Jakub Hrůša and »his« magnificent Bamberg Symphony Orchestra perform Beethoven’s 6th and 7th Symphonies.

Eight optional extensions
The subscription can be extended to include up to eight additional concerts: Raphaël Pichon and Pygmalion will perform Mozart’s Mass in C minor. Mnozil Brass will focus their programme on the Waltz King Johann Strauss. The RSO Vienna, conducted by Marin Alsop, presents a gospel adaptation of Handel’s »Messiah«. Vivi Vassileva and the Extasi Ensemble present a concert that is as virtuosic as it is stylistically diverse. With Mahler’s Third, the London Symphony Orchestra and Sir Simon Rattle take on a symphonic monument. Furthermore, Richard Wagner’s »Götterdämmerung« in a concertante and historically informed form on the programme of the Dresden Festival Orchestra under Kent Nagano. The Vienna Philharmonic and Herbert Blomstedt turn their attention to the 7th symphonies by Franz Schubert and Anton Bruckner.

Weekend concerts
All events take place on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday and are therefore ideal for a weekend stay in Vienna.
