Description
Symphonic core repertoire and rarities characterize the matinees of the
Vienna Symphony Orchestra presented by Barbara Rett: Franz Schmidt's
oratorio »The Book with Seven Seals« can be experienced at the Wiener
Konzerthaus for the first time since 1999 and Francis Poulenc's »Stabat
mater« (with the fabulous soprano Elsa Benoit and Marie Jacquot
conducting) for the very first time ever. Lise de la Salle and Beatrice
Rana will delight audiences with romantic piano concertos in two of the
matinees led by chief conductor Petr Popelka. There will also be
reunions with the captivating conductors Lorenzo Viotti and Robert
Treviño, who will each present thrilling works of Russian symphonic
music.
