Description
Kremsmünster - Passau - Salzburg - Vienna. This time, these are Ars Antiqua Austria's stops on their musical journey through the Archduchy of Austria to neighboring dioceses. Where dynastic and geographical factors are not immediately apparent, the Habsburg context is established either through the origin of the particular prince or composer and/or sources on their reception. For example, many Passau bishops came from the Land ob der Enns, while Biber, who was successful in Salzburg, came from the Crown Land of Bohemia. The »Mozart obsession« of the Benedictine Fathers of Kremsmünster is also addressed, as is the work of the Passau and Viennese court kapellmeisters Benedict Anton Aufschnaiter and Antonio Caldara, as well as Heinrich Ignaz Franz Biber, who paved the way for Gunar Letzbor's interpretative culture. The optional additional concert »Bach privat« is traditionally on a par in terms of playing technique.
