Description
Six unique orchestral concerts in the Great Hall - that's what the »Card
Complete« cycle offers: The young conducting star Klaus Mäkelä conducts
both the Oslo Philharmonic and the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, which
he will lead as chief conductor in the future. The Vienna Symphony
Orchestra will give a home performance under Omer Meir Wellber and
Rudolf Buchbinder, who will also be the soloist in three of Mozart's
piano concertos. In addition to symphonies by Mozart, Beethoven and
Elgar, the cycle offers program music by Richard Strauss, Sibelius and
Mendelssohn. The Vienna Philharmonic's concert with choirs and
outstanding soloists pushes the boundaries of the symphonic with
Mahler's monumental Eighth. And there is no shortage of soloists either,
with top-class musicians: Yuja Wang shines in Prokofiev's 2nd Piano
Concerto, Janine Jansen in his 1st Violin Concerto and Elisabeth
Leonskaja performs Beethoven's 3rd Piano Concerto in a concert by the
Camerata Salzburg.
