Description
The Wiener Symphoniker's matinees are characterised by unusual projects: Riccardo Minasi makes his Symphony debut with, among others, the »Faust Overture« by German Romantic composer Emilie Mayer. Conductors Tianyi Lu and Tabita Berglund set strong Anglo-Saxon accents with programmes that take them to the »New World« and New Zealand on the one hand, and to Great Britain on the other. Chief conductor Petr Popelka will also be travelling to America and Japan with solo concertos by Samuel Barber and Toshio Hosokawa performed by up-and-coming soloists of the younger generation. In addition to these numerous excursions overseas, he also creates pure Mahler and Beethoven programmes – and thus returns home to the city of music, Vienna.
