Description
The Vienna Philharmonic has been an honorary member of the Wiener
Konzerthausgesellschaft since December 2024, and in the coming season
they will once again present us with a series of masterpieces of music
history: under the direction of Tugan Sokhiev, Jakub Hrůša, Andris
Nelsons and Sir Simon Rattle, they will perform hits such as Mahler's
Symphonies no. 8 and No. 9 by Mahler or Strauss' tone poem »Also sprach
Zarathustra«, but also less frequently performed repertoire gems such as
the 2nd Symphony by Sibelius, ballet music by Stravinsky and Bartók or
Janáček's orchestral rhapsody »Taras Bulba«. Klaus Mäkelä, who has also
been a member of the select circle of Philharmoniker conductors since
December 2024, performs here with his orchestras from Oslo and Paris as
well as symphonies by Shostakovich and from France. Our »Great Talent«
Lukas Sternath, who will make his debut with the Vienna Philharmonic
with Prokofiev's Piano Concerto No. 3, and world star Lisa Batiashvili
with Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto will shine as soloists.
