Description
Mainly Estonian forces are honoring the 90th birthday of their compatriot Arvo Pärt with an exclusive portrait concert, the vocal part of which is provided by the concert choir Interpunkt. A scenic production of Schubert's »Schöner Müllerin« with Nikolaus Habjan, his puppets, Florian Boesch and Franui. Baldassare Galuppi's opera buffa »L'uomo femmina« from 1762 is actually a staged work, but can be experienced in concert here, brought to life by baroque specialist Vincent Dumestre. Igor Stravinsky's »Pulcinella«, whose original version with vocals is rarely heard, also refers to the Italian musical comedy of the 18th century. The brilliant highlight of the cycle - after the Rückert songs sung by portrait artist Julian Prégardien - is a performance of Mahler's 8th Symphony with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Andris Nelsons. Finally, we look forward to the State Choir Latvija making its Konzerthaus debut alongside prominent organist Iveta Apkalna - bringing the journey that began in Estonia to an end in the Baltic States.
