Description
The Vienna Symphony Orchestra presents itself as versatile and changeable with a cross-section of repertoire ranging from early music to classical music and world premieres: under their chief conductor Petr Popelka, they interpret weighty symphonies from Beethoven's »Eroica« to Dvořák's Eighth and Shostakovich's Tenth. Elim Chan, the orchestra's new »Artistic Partner«, opens the cycle with a fairytale programme. Austrian conductor Patrick Hahn devotes himself to another great symphony, Rachmaninoff's Third. We can also expect familiar guests such as Ton Koopman, Philippe Jordan and Robin Ticciati as well as new faces Alessandro De Marchi and Tianyi Lu on the conductor's podium. As soloists, Gidon Kremer, Renaud Capuçon and María Dueñas represent three generations of star violinists. On the piano, Alexandra Dovgan will delight audiences with a classical performance of Mozart and Mao Fujita with the world premiere of a piano concerto by Toshio Hosokawa.
