Filarmónica Joven de Colombia / Dueñas / Orozco-Estrada

In Venezuela it is El Sistema, in Colombia the Filarmónica Joven de Colombia: musical projects that enable young musicians from all walks of life to pursue a professional career at the highest level. La Joven, as the Colombian Youth Symphony Orchestra is commonly known, was founded in 2010 by the Fundación Bolívar Davivienda. Around 100 musicians aged between 16 and 24, selected each year through an extremely rigorous audition process, receive top-class training, work on special projects and give concerts.

On its tour, La Joven will also be stopping off in Vienna, where, under the baton of its principal conductor Andrés Orozco-Estrada – who is also from Colombia – and with the Spanish violinist María Dueñas as soloist, it will perform Edouard Lalo’s Symphonie espagnole in D minor, Op. 21, and Igor Stravinsky’s »The Firebird«.
