Description
The cycle begins under the sign of Robert Schumann: Christian Gerhaher continues his journey through the oeuvre of one of his favourite composers, which began in the 2024/25 season, with his Liederkreis op. 39, among others. Portrait artist Andrè Schuen performs the Liederkreis op. 24 and duets by Schumann and Brahms alongside Nikola Hillebrand. Finally, Gerald Finley not only devotes himself to »Dichterliebe«, but also to other songs by Schumann and others, including some Christmas songs in keeping with the season. Florian Boesch opens the second half of the season with somewhat lesser-known compositions by Liszt and Zemlinsky that are well worth discovering. Bass Georg Zeppenfeld, who has already appeared with us several times as a concert singer, will make his cycle debut with a larger selection from Schubert's »Schwanengesang«. The young Austrian Patricia Nolz presents a programme of Mahler's Rückert songs, before star soprano Sabine Devieilhe focuses on the composers Fanny Mendelssohn, Alma Mahler, Mélanie Bonis and Marguerite Canal.
