»Lean in«

Singer Gretchen Parlato makes her debut with an enchanting, atmospheric album at the Vienna Konzerthaus. Her latest project »Lean in« features songs reminiscent of Stan Getz: a stroll through musical influences from Brazil, North America and West Africa. The singer, who was born in Los Angeles in 1976, presents a view beyond the musical horizon, which she creates with guitarist Lionel Loueke, who comes from Benin. Both are united by their training at the Thelonious Monk Institute, where they were simultaneously accepted and embarked on an international career. »There was no hurdle he didn't dare to take, he was absolutely fearless«, jazz great Herbie Hancock knew to report about his first meeting with the guitarist.  And the exceptional guitarist soon convinced stars like Charlie Haden, Gonzalo Rubalcaba and Chick Corea of his merits.
