ZAM - an outreach project of the Wiener Konzerthaus

People who make and listen to music together feel connected to each other. This strengthens good cooperation and promotes dialog and social cohesion. ZAM stands for »together« and was created by multi-percussionist Martin Grubinger, Werner Bachstein from the Porticus Foundation and the director of the Wiener Konzerthaus Matthias Naske. As an outreach project of the Wiener Konzerthaus, ZAM creates a meeting space through joint music-making, workshops and cross-generational dialogs, which is intended to promote cohesion in society. ZAM visits locations throughout Austria with established professional musicians and offers unique opportunities for encounters in collaboration with local music associations and local educational and social institutions.

ZAM will kick off in Ebensee, Upper Austria, in April 2024. Percussionist Vivi Vassileva and the Langwies fire department band, conducted by Friedrich Neuböck, will play a joint concert. After a kick-off discussion, workshops will be held at the sports middle school and the Ebensee music school to prepare for the concert. In addition to the ZAM activities, large-format portrait photos of people from Ebensee and their personal life stories will be presented on the façade of the town hall as part of an international, participatory photo project by Inside Out entitled »ZAM - I am the people of Ebensee«, in the spirit of intergenerational dialog.

Inside Out Project:
Complementing the ZAM activities, large-format portrait photos of people from Ebensee are presented on the façade of the town hall as part of an international, participatory photo project by Inside Out »ZAM - I am the people of Ebensee«, in the spirit of intergenerational dialog.

Created by French artist JR, the Inside Out Project is a global participatory art project that aims to transform the world through art. The platform is designed to help people around the world express meaningful messages through art in public spaces. Everyone is given the opportunity to create an »action« on a theme anywhere in the world. Participants share their messages by presenting large-scale black and white portraits of members of their community in public spaces. The Inside Out actions cover topics such as diversity, community, feminism, racism, climate change, education, children's rights and art. Each installation will be documented and shared on an online platform.
