The RSO Vienna makes a weighty contribution to the portrait of György Ligeti with which we celebrate our honorary member on the occasion of his 100th birthday - it performs the "Mysteries of the Macabre" and three of his four solo concertos. Denis Kozhukhin, Yeree Suh, Johannes Hinterholzer and Alisa Weilerstein are not the only prominent soloists in this cycle: Portrait artist Jean Rondeau, star violinist Maxim Vengerov and "Great Talent" Julia Hagen interpret further great solo concertos from the Romantic and Modern periods, Rinat Shaham is the soloist in Leonard Bernstein's 1st Symphony, with which chief conductor Marin Alsop continues her exploration of the œuvre of her former mentor. Markus Poschner also continues his Bruckner cycle, while Jakub Hrůša introduces his still far too little known compatriot Miloslav Kabeláč.
